Fariborz (known as FB), oversees and sets the strategic direction at Dez Capital as President. He is involved in multiple aspects of the business such as overseeing contractual agreements, identifying new opportunities and implementing sound corporate governance. His background includes a wide range of leadership experiences including founding, building, and exiting from a high-tech software company, and managing large complex construction projects and teams. FB began his career as an engineer with Ricoh in Japan and Nortel in Ottawa. In 1999, he co-founded and became CEO of Cloakware, a compiler technology company that attracted investment from Intel Capital and TD Capital. He led the successful deployment of Cloakware’s technology on millions of devices around the world. The company was sold to Irdeto – Naspers (JSE: NPN).
Following this, FB spent six years as COO of a large B.O.T (Build, Operate and Transfer) civil construction project employing 4,000 people at the peak of its operation. Within this project, he oversaw the day-to-day operations, including design, procurement, and financing of heavy machinery from inception to completion.
In 2013, FB co-founded Dez Capital Corporation with his two brothers with the objective of managing and growing his investment portfolio while offering their expertise to other like-minded investors.
FB has a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He has a strong interest in clean technology and is also a Limited Partner at ArcTurn Venture Partners, a Toronto-based clean technology venture.
